Did you know that mid-October is the start of polar bear season in Canada? Polar bears make their way to the shores of Hudson Bay to patiently wait for the sea ice to form. In this painting, the polar bear is doing just that. Here he is in the subarctic night, caught in the light of the northern lights, the tundra, not yet snow covered, but golden at his feet.

The beauty and wonder of the polar bear, the northern lights, the arctic and our wonderful planet inspired my Golder Bear Series. Gold paint and textured mica medium symbolize the wealth nature gives us. The crackled texture of the polar bears fur symbolizes vulnerability. I hope you see these artworks as little treasures, and a reminder of how wonderful the bigger picture our planet is.
